AM/CAN CH. Hi-Stand's How Do Ya Like "ME" Now
Collen represents a combination of faith, history, and a little "knowledge" thrown in for good measure. Faith was displayed by his breeder, Charlie Hayes, when she bred Kelly to Collen's sire, Dollar. Although advised by others to look for a well-known sire, she trusted her instinct and mine. Charlie decided to stay with the Sarkel lineage, steeped deep nearly 37 years in the roots of our breed. Names like Treceder, Fashion Hint, Salgray, Scher-Khoun, Hansparkes, Boxella, Aracrest, TuRo, Cherokee Oaks, Willow Ridge, Von Schorer, Cross Bars, and more recently, Marburl, Har-Vel, Jo-San and Hi-Tech all were part of the blueprint that produced this beautiful boy. There are more too numerous to list. Learning from those who came before, combined with our limited knowledge were assets, but Collen is clearly here now because of the past. Our hope now is to bring the past to life again and offer a bright future for us and the breed.
Collen has been special since the first day in the ring when he turned 6 months, and went WD for 1 point (Breeder/Owner/Handled). The next six months went by in a blur ... Collen finished his championship on his first birthday with his third major. Our thanks to judges Donavon Thompson, Dr. Roger Pritchard, Maxine Beam, Tim Hutchings, Houston Clark and Kenneth Buxton who saw our youngster and appreciated the breed qualities we have worked so hard to maintain and improve. A special thanks goes to Lori McClain who finished Collen in such grand style. We also wish to thank his countless fans who were as excited about him as we are.
Next year (2004), watch for Collen and his new best friend, Tess Savage, as "The Next Generation" of our breed prepare to make everything old, new again! To draw on the question his name asks, "We like ya just fine, Collen, just fine."
Collen and Tess started there Special Career off the first of the 2004. As of the end of June Collen and Tess have won 18 BOB and 7 Group Placement. Collen is now ranked 10th in Breed points.
Collen will be health tested after March, when he turns 2. He has one litter on the ground, and is available for stud to approved bitches.
